Our parish is served by the following schools: St. Philip’s Junior National School Principal: Ms. Frances Cooke Ph: 01 8212992 Background To Follow….. St. Philip’s Senior National School Principal: Mr. Michael Downes Ph 01 8216101 Background: St. Philip’s Senior National School was established on 1 September, 1982. Of the original teachers the following continue to serve: Mr. Michael Downes (now Principal), Ms Miriam McInerney Duffy and Ms Geraldine Casey. The school has approximately 300 pupils from 39 different nationalities, with 23 teachers, 2 special needs assistants, a caretaker and school secretary. Facilities include 19 classrooms, a library, staff room, parents’ room, etc. European language classes are promoted - an essential item with our membership of the European Union - and the school has often been congratulated for its efforts in this aspect of its educational programme. On the sporting front, the school has had many successes in both boys’ and girls’ competitions and won the “Haughey Cup” in 1983. The school is active in promoting Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie, Basketball, Swimming and Soccer and participates in the Cumann na mBunscol Fingal League and FAIS competitions. The school also avails of the expertise of Mr. Tommy Brennan who is the Gaelic Games Promotional Officer with St. Peregrine’s G.A.A. Club. On the musical front, all pupils are encouraged to play an instrument and the school participates in the annual Christmas Hallelujah Concert at the Point Depot.
